Recorded in one take inside of a metal tower at an old quarry, this song is just an acoustic guitar & vocals and a hand held digital recording device.

I used to live nearby this old abandoned quarry, and one day ventured in to find a load of old machinery & this massive water tower laying on its side. At the large end that would have been the top, there is a small hatch to be able to climb inside. It was dusty & dirty in there, but just about light enough to see once your eyes got used to it, and It was probably about 10-12ft tall through the main section of the tower, narrowing to one end where the concrete would have been poured out.

After scouting it out, I went back with some tools & got to work cleaning the inside of the dust, rubble, and lumps of concrete - til it was smooth enough to ride. I climbed in there with my bike, and rode it on my own for the evening.... But it was pretty sketchy!
No phone signal in the quarry, and inside of this large metal container i figured if i came off my bike i could easily be stuck in there.

The sound inside this thing was just crazy though, every little knock, bang or even just the rub of the tyres was reverberating around the steel as if being inside of a massive snare drum. It was almost deafening.
But after leaving the place, I just kept thinking about returning but to play some music in there.

I had this song that I'd been messing about with on an acoustic guitar, so borrowed a hand held recorder off a friend & went back to see how it would sound.
The guitar inside the tower was making this huge resonance & reverb sound, with a massive sustain to it - it was like a grand piano inside a cave! If only the hatch to get in was big enough for some drums to go in there!
Anyways, I messed around and took a recording of this acoustic track while I was in there.
Its not been altered, all the reverb is natural from the sounds bouncing around in the tower. It may not be the most exciting track, but to me it serves as a way to remember this adventure into the quarry.
